Beverley Mack Harry, LCSW-R, M.S.Ed
In 1990, she was also a trailblazer in conducting psychotherapy services in the home for children who were in foster care. She recognized that they too were subjected to insensitivity towards their cultural background as well as the intrinsic pain of separation. Like immigration – the loss of something or someone dear to you can have a tremendous impact on your mental health, if not addressed.
Combined, Ms. Harry’s education, personal and employment background, serve her well as they have rendered her amply equipped for this role. She has a litany of education and experience which include: being a teenage immigrant who experienced separation and reunification; a Masters Degree in Social Work from CUNY/Hunter School of Social Work; a Post Graduate Degree in Family Therapy from Fordham University; plus a Master’s Degree in Special Education from CUNY/Brooklyn College. Moreover, her work experience in the NYC Dept of Probation mingled with administrative roles in the NYC HRA Foster Care Assessment system, and the Request for Proposals Department have all uniquely positioned her to be the path layer that she is today. Finally, for the past thirty years, she provided psychotherapy to countless individuals and trained hundreds of clinicians charged to follow the same philosophy of culturally sensitive quality services.
